Four Feather Falls is a classic 1960 British puppet television series created by legendary producer Gerry Anderson and composer Barry Gray. Produced by AP Films for Granada Television, the children’s fantasy-western spans 39 episodes and holds a significant place in television history as the first show to introduce an early version of Anderson’s famous Supermarionation technique—the electronic puppet technology that would later power iconic hits like Thunderbirds, Captain Scarlet, and Stingray.
The Plot & Magic Feathers
The series is set during the late 19th century in the fictional frontier town of Four Feather Falls, Kansas. The story follows Sheriff Tex Tucker, a righteous lawman who keeps the peace using a bit of Native American magic.
After Tex saves the grandson of Chief Kalamakooya, the chief rewards him with four magical feathers to wear in his hat. The feathers provide incredible powers:
- Two feathers grant the power of speech to Tex’s faithful companions: his horse, Rocky, and his dog, Dusty.
- One feather allows Tex’s twin six-guns to automatically swivel and fire completely untouched whenever he is in danger.
- The fourth feather acts as a magical beacon to instantly summon Chief Kalamakooya when needed.
