Downsizing

I’ve sold six cameras and raised £1600. I gave away a box of old film cameras to the lads at the camera shop to play with. Later today, I will be taking a box of Canon cameras to the local hospice charity shop. Progress is being made. Eight storage boxes of cameras are now three.…

I’ve sold six cameras and raised £1600.

I gave away a box of old film cameras to the lads at the camera shop to play with.

Later today, I will be taking a box of Canon cameras to the local hospice charity shop.

Progress is being made. Eight storage boxes of cameras are now three.

My motivation for this is largely to do with not burdening Yvonne with this collection should she outlive me.

As for my keeper cameras, I’ve shown Yvonne where she can sell them for a good price.

The monies raised will be going to good causes.

The benefit for me in downsizing is to enjoy a lighter feeling.

    You have great cameras. Downsizing is beneficial. More space and less stress. Coz I’m into the saying that less is more. All the best.

      Less is more. I definitely agree with that, Hazel. Also there’s more chance the cameras will be used by someone rather than collecting dust.

        I doubt it, because as a crazy photographer myself, I love to keep all my photography related stuff, be gadgets or books or editing software or even family albums.

        I’m with you on the family albums.

        I definitely had GAS, and thus the attachments and the relentless pursuit of the perfect camera were becoming unhealthy ( is that it? ), sub-optimal (?}. And I believe it’s not about the camera, it’s about the craft and the output.

        But I do respect your love of all your photography stuff.

        Stuff can bring a lot of joy. My wife, who teaches art, has a thing for pencils. She seems to enjoy having them.

      It is very satisfying to let go of things. Funny though, I don’t see myself as particularly acquisitive, but I ended up with all those camera. It good to divest myself of them.
