Yvonne and I met in late 2008. One of our first dates was at her works Christmas party, held at the local cricket club.
There was music playing, but no one was dancing. I asked Yvonne if she’d like to dance, and we took to the dance floor by ourselves.
Some smoochy music came on. I held her by the waist and we drew closer together.
Well, the smoochy song ended and some more lively music came on.
We continued smooching.
Then some rock music. We smooched.
In fact, we just smooched to every song that came on.
I think it would not have mattered if the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah came on – we would have smooched. Hallelujah!
The next day, I had to go to a meeting, and some people there asked me if I liked dancing. I should say so.
Now, eighteen years later, we’re still smooching.
I smile whenever I think about that Christmas party.
