My paternal grandfather was a proper Welshman. He said he remembered, as a kid, sitting on a pile of bardic texts. The Welsh love storytelling, and information gets passed down from generation to generation. For example, there’s a tradition in my family that the reason our ancestors sought refuge among the hills of north Wales, was to escape the Roman conquest of Britain some two thousand years ago.

Although my family has become Anglicised, we still love telling stories.
